What is Journalism?

In this life, we didn't realize if our daily lives are very close to the world of "Journalism". Most of the people have already known about the Journalism this day but nonetheless not of them have known it. In this article I'm going to discuss about the definition of journalism itself and types of journalism. So, we will know more about journalism.

    According to Wikipedia, Journalism refers to the production and distribution of reports on recent events. The word journalism applies to the occupation, as well as citizen journalists using methods of gathering information and utilizing literary techniques. Journalistic media include print, television, radio, internet, and, in the past, newsreels.

     According to the expert, Robert Niles, he said that journalism is a form of writing that tells people about things that really happened, but they might not have known about it already.

The types of journalism :

1. Advocacy Journalism
       Advocacy journalism deals with writing to advocate particular viewpoints or influence the opinions of the audience. It also describes the use of journalism techniques to promote a specific political or social cause.

2. Broadcast Journalism
       Journalism which is the field of news and journals which are broadcast or in other words we can say that it is published by electrical methods, instead of the older methods such as printed newspaper and posters. For example like radio and television.

3. Investigative Journalism
      Journalism that tries to discover information of public interest that someone is trying to hide.It is also includes serious crimes, political corruption or corporate wrongdoing.

4. Tabloid Journalism
      Tabloid journalism is a newspaper of small format giving the news is condensed form, usually with illustrated often sensational material. It puts more stress on crime stories, astrology, gossip columns about the personal lives of celebrities and sports stars and junk food news.

5. Yellow Journalism         
     Yellow journalism is also known as sensationalism and it is writing which emphasizes exaggerated claims or rumors. Yellow journalism which highlights little or no legitimate well-researched news and instead uses eye-catching headlines to sell more newspaper.

      We can conclude that actually journalism is a news. Every news is named as journalism, even though it is just a small thing. But as long as it is an event or something that interesting or such kinds of information, all of them is journalism. Journalism as one part of mass communication and media studies. It is the practice of investigation and reporting of events, issues, and the latest trends to a broad audiences.
